The day has finally arrived! May 12, 2023 marks the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Fans can now purchase the game digitally or wait in line to get their hands on it. Nintendo’s latest Switch exclusive is the highly anticipated sequel to 2017’s Breath of the Wild. Like its predecessor, Kingdom boasts a vast open world for players to explore and discover new quests. However, this time around, players can also explore new areas above the clouds and below the ground. Link also has new abilities, including the ability to stick objects together to create useful items like gliders, boats, and even giant flaming objects. It’s no wonder that there are long lines everywhere as people rush to buy and play this exciting game!
Kotaku’s Carolyn Petit recorded a video of a long line stretching for blocks outside the Nintendo Store in New York City on Friday morning. A similar line had formed outside the same store on Thursday night for the game’s midnight release.
