The Release Date of Assassin’s Creed Mirage Could Be a Recipe for Disaster

The official release date and trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage have been recently announced at the PlayStation Showcase. However, the game may face tough competition as it is set to release on October 12, 2023, which is the same time as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This could potentially overshadow Mirage’s sales numbers, similar to how Elden Ring hurt Horizon Forbidden West last year.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will feature Basim Ibn Ishaq, who made his first appearance in Valhalla but was not a playable character at that time. The action-adventure game will have more stealth elements and a purposely smaller world than most recent Assassin’s Creed games. Basim’s parkour skills will come into play a lot, and players will get to see his growth as a character throughout the narrative-driven campaign.

Despite the fall being a large window for when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be in the hands of gamers, it is highly likely that October could see both Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Even if Spider-Man came out in September, the size and scope of the game means that many people will still be heavily occupied by it when Mirage launches.

If Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are placed together, Mirage could suffer the same damaging effects that Horizon Forbidden West saw last year, simply due to timing and not as a fair representation of the quality and value of the game itself. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is currently available for preorder, so hopefully many fans will take advantage of that to help boost the game before its release.
