Insomniac Games has unveiled a new limited edition Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 console bundle, which includes a DualSense controller. For those who already own the console, Spider-Man plates can be purchased as an alternative. The superhero game had a significant presence at San Diego Comic-Con, with a new story trailer and a panel that delved into the relationships between Spider-Man and Venom in the game.
A reveal video on the official PlayStation YouTube page showcases the design of both the console’s plating and a custom DualSense controller. The design resembles the branding used in much of the game’s promotional material, featuring the white spider symbol on a red background gradually being overtaken by the black Venom symbiote.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post discussing the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5, Jacinda Chew, Insomniac Games’ Senior Art Director, provides more details about the design concept for the limited edition console. Chew explains that the design “represents the various ways players will experience the symbiote takeover.” One side of the console is entirely black to represent the Venom symbiote, while the other side reveals some underlying red beneath the tendrils, symbolizing the “push and pull for dominance” between Peter and the symbiote in the game.
Existing PlayStation 5 owners who desire the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 aesthetic do not need to trade in their console for the spider-man-2-unveiled.html” title=”The Perfect Limited Edition PS5 Console for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Unveiled”>limited edition bundle. PlayStation has confirmed that the PS5 plates and DualSense controller will be available for separate purchase, allowing all PS5 owners to customize their consoles with the red and black design.

These items will also be available in limited quantities at select retailers, although Sony has not specified which retailers will carry them.
