A prominent figure in Sydney is set to undergo a retrial for charges of raping two women, as the previous jury was unable to reach a verdict earlier this year.
The identity of the accused individual is protected by a suppression order, but there will be a media challenge to review this order on December 10.
During the court appearance at Sydney’s Downing Centre, the retrial date was scheduled for October 20. The man faces five charges, including three counts of non-consensual sexual intercourse.
Following a six-week trial in August where he pleaded not guilty to nine charges – including five rape allegations involving five different women over three years – the man was acquitted on four charges, including two rape accusations and an indecent assault charge.

The jury could not reach a decision on the remaining five charges from three other women.
The retrial starting on October 20, 2025, will be divided into two separate trials. The first trial will focus on one woman who alleges that she was assaulted by the accused grabbing her throat and threatening to distribute an intimate video of her.
The second trial will involve testimony from two unrelated women who claim that he engaged in sexual activity with them without their consent.
