Sydney’s Prominent Figure Set for Retrial on Rape Charges Following Hung Jury

A prominent figure in Sydney is set to undergo a retrial ⁢for charges of raping two ⁣women, as‌ the previous jury was unable to ⁣reach a verdict ‌earlier ‌this year.

The identity of the⁢ accused individual is ⁣protected by a‍ suppression order, but there will be a media challenge to review this order on December 10.

During the court appearance at Sydney’s Downing Centre, the retrial date was scheduled‌ for October 20. The man faces five charges, including⁣ three counts of non-consensual sexual intercourse.

Following ⁣a six-week trial in August where he pleaded not guilty to nine charges – including five rape allegations involving five different women over three years – the man was acquitted on four charges, including two rape accusations and an indecent assault charge.
