Many gamers have long complained about the poor performance of the game on PC, but it turns out that serious optimization problems are also prevalent on Xbox Series S|X consoles. While playing Starfield, players encounter sudden FPS drops to critical values, constant crashes, and in some cases, even console malfunctions.
Negative reviews about the performance of Starfield on Xbox Series S|X have multiplied on social media and dedicated gaming forums. It turns out that the game generally worked fine on consoles only at the beginning, but the further players progressed in their playthroughs, the more errors they encountered. Players complain that even the most powerful Xbox Series X often experiences drops to 0 frames per second on desolate planets, making the project unplayable. This is compounded by a huge list of unpleasant bugs that also occur on PCs, as well as some critical game crashes.
One gamer claims that Starfield broke his Xbox Series X after one of the crashes. According to the user, the console simply stopped functioning properly, and they had to reset it to factory settings and then install operating system updates. The gamer suspects that the crash damaged the console’s memory, so they have postponed playing Starfield until patches are released.
In the case of PC problems, Bethesda Softworks developers, including Todd Howard, suggest simply updating the graphics card or processor. However, it is not yet clear what Xbox Series S|X players should do. Studio representatives have not officially commented on the situation.
