Sony Pictures Television has decided to start over with the “Silk: Spider Society” series, originally announced in 2018. Showrunner Angela Kang is the only remaining team member, with all other writers being replaced by a new creative team.
Reportedly, the show will now be aimed at a predominantly male audience, in an effort to attract viewers of “Reacher” and “Jack Ryan”. The concept of the show will also be changed, with completed episodes undergoing significant reworking.
It’s worth noting that Sony is not only working on this spin-off in the “Spider-Man” universe. There are rumors that Nicholas Cage will star in the “Spider-Man Noir” series, which is being developed by Amazon.
Oren Uziel, known for ”22 Jump Street” and “The Cloverfield Paradox”, is listed as the series’ writer and executive producer. Uziel will be working on the show with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, producers of the animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, and Amy Pascal, producer of “Spider-Man: No Way Home”.
