Russian Regulator Roskomnadzor Confirms Steam Will Remain Accessible in the Country

Roskomnadzor: Steam will not face blocking in Russia

Roskomnadzor has ‍no plans to ‌block access to the Steam community site in Russia, as reported by the SOTA Telegram channel, citing a source within Roskomnadzor.

According to representatives ⁢of Roskomnadzor, the site owner has been informed about the presence of ⁤content that violates Russian laws ‌and has been ‌asked to remove it. Despite the‌ removal of the illegal content, the Roskomnadzor registry⁢ has not been updated‌ to reflect this, showing only the existence of claims. As ⁤of ⁤now, ‌the‍ mention ⁣of the Steam community site has been removed ⁢from the registry.

Additionally,‍ Roskomnadzor stressed that even ⁣if ⁣there is no response to the agency’s demands, the resource ⁣may not⁢ necessarily be blocked. It‌ may continue to operate, ⁤but search engines will indicate that the site violates Russian legislation. ‌Such measures are implemented if the resource is deemed significant or if there are⁢ other reasons ⁢why it cannot be shut down.
