Russian Military Abducts Citizen in Gyumri for Evading Service: A Tale of Betrayal and Escape

A Russian citizen, Anatoly Shchetinin, was abducted by Russian military personnel ‍in Gyumri‌ while seeking refuge in ⁢Armenia‍ to avoid military service. The Vanadzor ⁣branch of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly ⁣revealed this⁢ alarming⁣ incident.

Reports indicate that Shchetinin⁣ is being unlawfully detained at the 102nd Russian military ‍base in Gyumri and is scheduled to be transported back to Russia via⁢ military aircraft.

In a similar case, ​Dmitry Setrakov, a Russian‌ serviceman,‌ was forcibly taken from Armenia to Russia ‍after fleeing from military​ duty and seeking sanctuary. Despite his efforts to evade capture by traveling to⁤ Armenia through the “Go to the Forest” project, Setrakov⁣ was apprehended within a week and⁣ transferred to Rostov-on-Don under ‍the jurisdiction of the regional military police department of the Southern Military District.
