The release of Hades II saw a significant increase in online players compared to the first installment, resulting in a new record on Steam for the original game as well.
According to SteamDB data:
- Before Hades II, the first game had around 37,000 players at its peak during the release period.
- After the release of Hades II, the player count for the first game increased to around 54,000 over the weekend following the sequel’s launch.
- As for Hades II itself, it reached a peak of around 104,000 players.
The surge in player numbers was likely due to a sale: from May 2nd to 13th, the original Hades was offered at a record discount of 66% off, bringing the price in the Russian region down to 299 rubles.
It’s worth noting that the first Hades holds the seventh spot on Steam’s list of most positively reviewed games, with a 98% approval rating. Hades II is not far behind, currently sitting at a 94% “positivity” rating.
