Resident of Tambov Faces Criminal Charges for Alleged Support of Terrorism on Social Media

A 33-year-old resident of Tambov, Andrey Tkach, is facing‌ a criminal ‌case for his comments on VK regarding the arson attack ⁢on the military enlistment office in Murmansk.‍ According to⁣ ASTRA, Tkach is accused of “justifying terrorism,” leading to the ⁢blocking of his social media page.‍ The suspect’s current whereabouts ⁣are unknown.

In a separate incident in May 2023, 19-year-old Shamil Aliev-Gasanov⁤ set fire to the military enlistment⁣ office in Murmansk before fleeing the scene. The social security center’s office was also damaged ‍in the ‌process. Aliev-Gasanov confessed during interrogation ⁤that he was‍ coerced ​by an anonymous ⁤social media user who ⁣threatened him with murder and blackmail. On‌ the night of May 14, he carried out the arson attack, recording the act⁤ on his phone.

Following the outbreak‍ of ‍the⁤ war in Ukraine,⁢ guerrillas in Russia have ‍been‌ targeting military enlistment ‌offices⁤ and ‍sabotaging railways.‌ Many have been arrested and are now ⁤facing criminal charges for their ‍actions.
