Rockstar quietly released an update for the PlayStation 4 version of the original Red Dead Redemption on Tuesday, allowing it to run at 60fps on the PS5. While the 2010 open-world Western was launched on PS4 and Switch in August, it only ran at 30fps on those platforms, which many fans were unhappy about. Now, PS5 owners can enjoy smoother framerates when playing the game in backward compatibility mode.
The game was updated with patch 1.03, which was rolled out to PlayStation owners on Tuesday. According to the patch notes, the higher framerates are exclusive to PS5 owners and are not available on the standard PS4 or the more powerful PS4 Pro. The patch also introduced an option to enable subtitles when starting the game for the first time, along with various bug fixes and improvements.
