It appears that GSC GameWorld, the developer of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, is currently facing a series of significant events, including a fire that broke out in their Prague office. The incident attracted the attention of five fire companies, but fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.
According to the Prague City Hall website, the fire originated on one of the floors of GSC GameWorld’s Prague office, causing considerable damage to that specific area of the building and resulting in the destruction of items and equipment. Thankfully, none of the approximately 30 employees present during the incident were harmed.
Based on available information, the estimated damage amounts to around 1.5 million Czech crowns, equivalent to approximately $65,000. The fire primarily affected one of the three floors in GSC GameWorld’s new office, likely the floor housing the backup servers. Fortunately, the other two floors remained unaffected, thanks to the prompt response of the fire brigade.
Currently, it is unclear whether this incident will impact the progress of the game’s development. However, it is worth noting that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is being developed for PC and Xbox Series X/S, with an anticipated release in the first quarter of 2024. The exact release date remains unknown.
