The one and only Phantom Liberty DLC is coming to Cyberpunk 2077 and promises to add a lot of new content to the game with additional zones, narratives, NPCs, and delightful ways to kill enemies with flashy new weapons. This update is also releasing at the same time as Phantom Liberty debuts on September 26, 2023, which adds a bit of confusion as to which things in the trailer are part of the DLC and which will be part of the free update. Either way, the new weapons teased so far will add fresh variety to the game on top of the hundreds of different types available in Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC is bringing many changes to the game with its new storyline content taking players to the new area of Dogtown, a dangerous combat zone. One of the key features of this setting is the lawless abandon that has overtaken the zone, including an active black market. Shopping for new guns and katanas in Dogtown seems to include illegal weapons, which could make them all the more fun to use. With the updates to the AI and, specifically, more intelligent police working for the Night City PD, the black market weapons could even cause a bit of extra excitement to the game’s armory.
The new black and yellow handgun, Grit, is one of these weapons marketed as being illegal. It appears that this, and other illegal weapons, may be specially modified guns, with Grit looking much like it could be a modded version of the Slaught-O-Matic from the base game of Cyberpunk 2077. Whether that is the case or not, the extended magazine size and snub barrel make this handheld submachine gun a highly lethal compact weapon for Phantom Liberty.
Hercules is the most intriguing of the new weapons that were shown in the trailer for Phantom Liberty, as it appears to be a flamethrower type of weapon, judging from the darkened burn marks on its barrel. Although it could also be some form of a heavy machine gun, The Hercules is marked only as being a Special type and stamped with the word “prototype” on its side. This gun has a unique look to it and, surprisingly, does not fall under the illegal category that many in this DLC do.
Hercules is one of the guns included in the above trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty which debuted at Gamescom 2023.
