Pew Research reveals increasing anxiety among Americans as AI adoption expands

Americans‍ have become ⁤increasingly concerned about ⁢the use of artificial intelligence (AI) ⁢in the past nine months. According to‌ a recent ⁢survey conducted by ⁣the Pew Research Center,‍ 52 percent of⁢ respondents expressed more worry than excitement ⁢about the growing adoption of AI, which is a 14-point increase ‌since December. In contrast, ‌only 10 percent stated that they were more⁢ excited than worried, ⁢while ⁤36 percent described their views as equally balanced. The Pew Research Center stated in a⁣ blog post today ⁣that “concern ⁣about AI outweighs excitement across ⁣all major demographic groups.”

The past nine months have been eventful in terms of AI developments since the Pew Center’s last survey. OpenAI’s ChatGPT, initially known as a‌ tool for cheating ⁣on homework, has now become a well-known name. The corporate world, including major tech companies,⁤ has been competing to demonstrate their investment in generative AI. Microsoft ‍has integrated GPT-4 into Office and Windows, and⁢ Google has introduced its Bard chatbot while incorporating AI elements into search.
