In a recent interview, Director Patty Jenkins revealed that the highly anticipated “Wonder Woman 3” is unlikely to come to fruition. Speaking on the Talking Pictures podcast, Jenkins confirmed that she will not be returning to helm the next installment of the DC heroine’s story.
When questioned about the status of the third Wonder Woman movie, Jenkins responded:
As of now, it seems that the project has been shelved indefinitely,” she stated. The current focus does not seem to be on continuing the Wonder Woman franchise.
Following the transition of leadership to producers James Gunn and Peter Safran within the DC film division, discussions regarding the third film with Jenkins reached a standstill. Rumors suggest that the DC executives were not satisfied with the proposed script. Furthermore, it is speculated that Gal Gadot may not return to portray the superheroine, opening the door for a new actress to step into the iconic role.
The planned third installment of the DC Comics heroine series was set to introduce Lynda Carter as Asteria, a legendary Amazon of Themyscira. Production was initially slated to commence in 2024.
