An AI company CEO is under fire ‌for suggesting the use of AI to replace ⁣striking⁣ New York Times employees, sparking a‌ wave ‌of⁣ negative responses.

Journalist Max Tani shared an email from NYT publisher AG Sulzberger about the ongoing strike by the NYT Tech Guild, expected to last “at least through the election.”

Sulzberger highlighted the importance ⁣of providing ⁣essential coverage to millions‍ of⁤ readers on Election Day ‌and expressed ‍concern over the Tech Guild’s attempt to disrupt this service during such a critical time for the country.

In response, Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity AI, offered assistance in⁤ ensuring continuous coverage during the election period and invited ‍Sulzberger to reach out for support.

The proposal was met with strong criticism from ‍commenters who used derogatory terms like “scab,” expressing ‌their disapproval of replacing human workers with AI technology.

While some responses were⁣ more detailed in their objections, they all conveyed a sense of outrage towards exploiting a labor strike for profit.
