The US Department of Commerce recently revealed the recipients of the CHIPS Incentives Program awards, with Samsung, Texas Instruments, and Amkor Technology receiving a total of over $6.75 billion. These awards aim to support the growth of semiconductor production within the country. Samsung was granted up to $4.745 billion in direct funding, which is slightly less than the initial award amount announced earlier this year. Texas Instruments received up to $1.61 billion while Amkor was awarded up to $407 million.
As part of its commitment to chip development and production in the US, Samsung plans to invest $37 billion in expanding its operations over the next few years. This includes establishing two new production facilities and a research and development site in Texas, as well as expanding an existing facility in Austin.
