Amazon’s Kuiper satellites will soon make their debut in orbit. The company is preparing to launch its first two satellites, the KuiperSat-1 and the KuiperSat-2, for its Protoflight mission scheduled for October 6. Project Kuiper is Amazon’s response to SpaceX’s Starlink service. Currently, Amazon plans to launch 3,200 satellites over the next six years to create a constellation that can provide internet connectivity even in remote areas where traditional providers cannot reach.
The KuiperSat-1 and KuiperSat-2 are the initial versions of Amazon’s satellites and will provide the company with valuable learning opportunities. They will enable the company to conduct tests that will contribute real-world data to the information already gathered in the lab.
