New Study Reveals Majority of Musicians Worry About AI: Insights from French-German Research

The use of Artificial Intelligence ⁢in music production is already widespread, but a recent survey conducted in France and Germany‍ revealed that 71 percent of respondents fear that‌ it could jeopardize ‌their livelihoods. The study, published by the French Society of Authors, Composers⁤ and Music Publishers (Sacem) and the German equivalent GEMA, surveyed over 15,000 individuals in the music industry,⁣ highlighting concerns about the impact of AI on their future earnings.

According to the‌ survey, 35 percent of respondents are already utilizing AI in various ⁢aspects ⁢of music creation. However, the report also ⁢predicts‍ a 27 percent decline in incomes by 2028, amounting to approximately 2.7 billion euros ($2.9‍ billion). This‍ has prompted ⁤95 percent of respondents to call for more transparency from AI developers and greater attention from policymakers ⁢on⁣ AI and copyright-related challenges.

Cecile Rap-Veber, the managing director of Sacem, emphasized the need to make AI⁣ activity ‌”virtuous” rather than slowing it down. She stated that efforts are underway to collaborate with industry players to implement technical solutions for identifying content ⁣generated‍ by AI.
