Meta’s Oversight Board expedites two cases regarding content related to the Israel-Hamas conflict


The Oversight ‌Board of Meta has announced that it will expedite the review ⁣of two ​cases involving content takedowns on Facebook⁢ and​ Instagram related to the ⁣ongoing Israel-Hamas war. This is the first time the independent board has chosen to fast-track a review,‌ allowing for a decision to​ be made in as little as 48 hours ‌instead of the usual weeks or months-long process.

Since​ the start of the conflict, the board has experienced⁢ a significant increase in appeals, with a nearly three-fold rise in daily average appeals concerning the Middle East and North Africa.
