Reason behind Srettha Thavisin’s removal ‌as prime minister

Srettha Thavisin, from the Pheu Thai Party, ‌was ousted by⁢ a 6-3 vote from Constitutional Court judges after a petition by 40 senators citing ethical concerns ⁢over his appointment of a controversial figure.

The controversy stemmed from Srettha’s choice of Pichit Chuenban,‍ a⁢ former lawyer with ⁣a criminal ‌record, leading to ⁢accusations of unethical behavior and ties to billionaire Thaksin Shinawatra.

Srettha’s removal marks the fourth time a Thai prime minister has been ousted by the Constitutional Court in ⁢the past 16 years.

Paetongtarn, 37, ‍the youngest child of Thaksin Shinawatra, emerged as ⁣the new prime minister with strong support⁤ from her party and allies in parliament.
