The suspect, identified as Richard Golden, reportedly posted the threat on 4chan’s /pol board, which has been linked to terrorist activity in the past. Sheriff Chitwood had recently spoken out in support of his local Jewish community, prompting backlash from far-right groups. The post read, “Just shoot Chitwood in the head and he stops being a problem. They have to find a new guy to be the problem. But shooting Chitwood in the head solves an immediate problem permanently. Just shoot Chitwood in the head and murder him”.
