A lawsuit has been filed against Elon Musk and X by a group of former Twitter executives, including former CEO Parag Agrawal, over unpaid severance benefits amounting to millions of dollars. The claims are related to the tumultuous circumstances that arose when Musk took over the company in October 2022.
Upon assuming control of the company, Musk’s initial action was to terminate Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, chief legal officer Vijaya Gadde, and general counsel Sean Edgett. The lawsuit alleges that Musk harbored a “special ire” towards the group due to their involvement in the protracted legal battle that compelled Musk to proceed with the acquisition after attempting to withdraw from the deal. As per the lawsuit, Agrawal is owed $57.4 million in severance benefits, Segal is owed $44.5 million, Gadde $20 million, and Edgett $6.8 million, totaling approximately $128 million.
The lawsuit references Musk biographer Walter Isaacson’s narrative of the events, detailing Musk’s haste in finalizing the Twitter deal a day…
