Following the immense success of Baldur’s Gate 3, it was inevitable that there would be attempts to replicate certain mechanics, gameplay decisions, and even the graphics of the game. One such mobile imitation, Balder War, caught the attention of Larian Studios, who expressed their disapproval towards its creators.
It appears that Balder War has already been removed from the App Store. The question arises as to how a game that clearly copied Baldur’s Gate 3 was allowed to be released in the first place. The creators shamelessly took the graphics from Larian Studios’ masterpiece, making only minor changes to the characters’ faces. Unfortunately, their endeavor was unsuccessful, prompting a reaction from one of the creators of Baldur’s Gate 3.
Michael Douse, the head of Larian Studios, shared an image of the graphics from Balder War along with a GIF file of Judge Judy expressing disappointment by wagging her finger on his blog on X.
Imitators of Baldur’s Gate 3 should take this warning seriously and make an effort to conceal the resemblance of their work to Larian Studios’ game. Unfortunately, there are no gameplay images or actual gameplay footage of Balder War available online.
