Israeli Minister Refutes US ‘Terror’ Designation Following Fatal Settler Attack

A‍ member of Israel’s far-right government has rejected the United States’ characterization of the killing of ‍a⁣ Palestinian by Israeli settlers as a “terror attack.”

“I would not recommend considering‍ the US definition as⁣ an accurate professional definition. Ultimately, they are not relying on intelligence but on ‌media reports,” Agriculture Minister Avi Dichter stated on Tuesday, as ‌reported by‌ local media outlets.

“Media reports include ⁣a mix⁣ of accurate and‍ inaccurate information, ‌as well as biased content. What matters to us is the actual events that took place,”‍ added Dichter, ⁣a⁣ former head‍ of the Shin Bet internal security service, ‍in an ‍interview with Israel’s ⁣Army Radio.

Qusai Jamal Maatan, 19, was fatally shot⁣ in Burqa, east of Ramallah in the occupied West ⁣Bank, ⁣on Friday, during an incursion by ⁤armed settlers that led to ⁤clashes with local residents.
