When playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, some quests may appear to have simple objectives, but they can become more complicated due to the presence of powerful enemies like Gleeoks. Gleeoks are among the most dangerous enemies introduced in Tears of the Kingdom, and they can present a seemingly insurmountable challenge, especially as their attacks can take out early or mid-game players in a single hit. Fortunately, due to TOTK’s open structure, most obstacles can be overcome in multiple ways.
As part of the Lucky Clover Gazette quests chain, players are likely to encounter the quest for Zelda’s golden horse at Snowfield Stable early on. The reward for completing the quest is well worth the trouble, as it is a unique horse with a particularly high-speed stat. However, finding the horse may not be easy, as a Frost Gleeok is directly in the path between the stable and the horse’s location. Most early game players may not have enough health to survive a Gleeok’s attacks or weapons powerful enough to take one down comfortably, making the quest for the golden horse seem like something to be left for later.

Bringing the horse back, however, requires a slightly different approach. While players can try to ride straight back and outrun the Gleeok’s attacks, a less risky approach involves taking a small detour around the east side of the Gleeok’s territory, sticking close to the side of the mountain. This should keep players well outside the Gleeok’s detection range on the way back to the stable, leaving only a few horse-riding Moblins to possibly contend with and securing the golden horse while leaving the Gleeok for later.
While players will eventually want to take on TOTK’s various Gleeoks for their valuable loot, they can be an almost impossible challenge early in the game, with high health and incredibly damaging attacks. Luckily, for tasks like retrieving the golden horse or crossing the Bridge of Hylia, the open-world structure of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom means that there are always multiple solutions that don’t involve fighting.
