Disney CEO Bob Iger discussed the recent proxy battle with Nelson Peltz, stating that it was a “distraction” and that the company can now focus on turning a streaming profit and planning its succession. This comes just one day after defeating the activist investor.
Iger expressed his relief at being able to dedicate all his time to executing priorities with the management team and the board, now that the battle is over. He emphasized that Peltz’s proxy attempt had little impact on the company’s strategy for succession, business investments, or content plans.
He also revealed that choosing his replacement is the board’s top priority, with the succession committee holding numerous meetings in 2023 and planning more in 2024.
