What if Hollywood blockbusters were reimagined as workplace dramas?
The office is not the most promising setting for films. Desk warriors can occasionally find themselves caught up in dramatic stories, whether as journalists (“Spotlight”), lawyers (“Dark Waters”), or whistleblowers (“The Informant”). The allure of the greed and fear of high finance (“Dumb Money”) is enduring. However, office-based blockbusters are still relatively scarce: typing, malfunctioning toilets, and meetings are simply not that thrilling.
But there is a simple solution. Take successful film titles and adapt their plots for the white-collar workplace. Here are some pitches for a few such remakes:
“A Quiet Place”. A newly renovated office features several small rooms specifically designed for focused work. However, it quickly becomes evident that the demand for these rooms exceeds the supply. In the scramble among employees to reserve or snatch them when they become available, things take a dark turn. Genre: horror/office administration.
