Although it’s been three years since the movie was announced, Henry Cavill is still closely involved in the reboot of “Highlander” by Chad Stahelski.
“I can’t answer that question yet,” Cavill told ComicBook.com in an interview when asked what to expect for viewers. “I still have a lot of work ahead of me. It’s going to be a serious challenge.”
In an interview with Collider, the actor said: “Serious training will begin now. It’s going to be a very long training process, and I really want to get into it. At the moment, I can’t tell you much. I want to keep everything secret for as long as possible.”
The announcement that Cavill will play Connor MacLeod, the last immortal Highlander, in the franchise reboot, was made back in 2021.
The “Highlander” franchise started with the 1986 film, starring Sean Connery, Clancy Brown, Roxanne Hart, and Christopher Lambert, telling the story of an ancient war among immortals. The success of the first film led to the creation of multiple movies, TV shows, books, video games, comics, and even more merchandise than we can imagine.
“We want to make our own story, and it involves a lot of the same characters and things like that,” Stahelski said last year on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “But we also brought in elements from all the shows. We have ideas for days on how to make the coolest characters and turn it into an epic TV show. I just think it’s a rich, rich mythology.”
The new movie takes place in modern-day New York and is scheduled for release in 2026.
