Google is discontinuing its Jamboard whiteboarding app and will wind it down in late 2024. Instead, the company will focus on collaborating with third-party partners. Jamboard is Google’s in-house whiteboarding solution that enables real-time collaboration. Any changes made on the website or app are reflected on the Jamboard hardware, and vice versa.
To ensure teams using Google’s tools still have access to a collaborative digital whiteboard, the company will integrate FigJam, Lucidspark, and Miro into its Workspace. Google also plans to provide a retention and migration path to prevent users from losing any collaborative work within their organization. According to Google, this decision was influenced by feedback from customers who desired more advanced features.
