God of War Creator Criticizes Atreus as a Disappointing Character

During⁣ a recent ⁣interview, David Jaffe, the mastermind behind the iconic God of War series, sat down ‍with Days Gone director John Garvin to discuss the evolution of characters in the latest God of War games.

Jaffe expressed his belief‌ that the current developers have strayed from ‌the essence of Kratos, ⁢transforming him from a symbol of fury into a nurturing father figure, a departure from the ‌character’s original essence. ‍He ⁢went as far as to criticize Atreus, labeling him as a lackluster⁢ character both in appearance and gameplay. Jaffe felt that the potential of Atreus⁤ in Ragnarok was not fully realized:

“They‌ should have elevated ‌Atreus to a remarkable status midway through or towards the end of Ragnarok, ⁢creating a character that players would aspire to emulate. Unfortunately, the game fell short of delivering that ⁤experience.”

God of War: Ragnarok is currently available on PS4 and PS5, with a PC release⁤ scheduled for ⁣September 19.
