Peter Bokelmann has had a busy few months. The chief counsel at Trumpf, a maker of machine instruments, oversees the agency’s efforts to adjust to the brand new legislation on the due diligence of provide chains that got here into power on January 1st. The authorities’s personal estimates of the legislation’s direct value to the nation’s corporations in time and toil—€110m this 12 months and €43.5m a 12 months thereafter—are unrealistically low, companies say.
In Trumpf’s case, of its 15,000 suppliers, 5,000 are deemed by the agency to be low-risk.
