The Preobrazhensky District Court in Moscow has handed down sentences to four former employees of the “Matrosskaya Tishina” pre-trial detention center for abuse of power involving the use of force. According to reports from “Mediazona” citing the court’s press secretary, operative Andrey Dorzhiev received a 3-year, 6-month sentence in a general regime colony. Operatives Denis Petrovich and Roman Sarangov were sentenced to 3 years, 2 months each, along with detention center inspector Alexander Sidorov.
The case against the “Matrosskaya Tishina” employees began in August 2023 following inspections by the Federal Penitentiary Service. The department found that Dorzhiev, Sidorov, Petrovich, and Sarangov had “severely violated” the rights of detainees, impacting five individuals. According to “Moskovsky Komsomolets”, the investigation revealed that the employees at the detention center would physically assault detainees “out of personal animosity.”
