Former Deputy Minister of Culture Yarilov Receives 7-Year Prison Sentence for Misuse of Authority

Former deputy minister of culture Olga Yarylova has been ​sentenced to ⁣7 years in prison by the court for her involvement in the “Pushkin Card” program, which⁤ included the ice cream museum.⁢ The total damage in this case was estimated at 125 million rubles.

Yarylova was found guilty of misusing her official powers ⁢and has been prohibited from holding any public office for a period of ⁢two years.

Her arrest took place in the spring of 2023, following her dismissal from the Ministry of Culture seven months earlier. Initially, she was accused of taking part in a fraudulent ​scheme where criminals purchased⁢ cards at a discounted rate and used the full value for⁣ fake events.

Further investigation revealed that Yarylova played a role in adding an expensive⁢ ice ⁤cream museum ‌in Moscow City, which ​was not ​even a recognized museum, to the Ministry of​ Culture’s program.
