Former deputy minister of culture Olga Yarylova has been sentenced to 7 years in prison by the court for her involvement in the “Pushkin Card” program, which included the ice cream museum. The total damage in this case was estimated at 125 million rubles.
Yarylova was found guilty of misusing her official powers and has been prohibited from holding any public office for a period of two years.
Her arrest took place in the spring of 2023, following her dismissal from the Ministry of Culture seven months earlier. Initially, she was accused of taking part in a fraudulent scheme where criminals purchased cards at a discounted rate and used the full value for fake events.
Further investigation revealed that Yarylova played a role in adding an expensive ice cream museum in Moscow City, which was not even a recognized museum, to the Ministry of Culture’s program.
