Larian enthusiasts gathered at the PAX West event where studio head Sven Vincke made an exciting announcement. He revealed that the highly anticipated next major update for Baldur’s Gate III is set to launch next week.
This upcoming seventh patch will introduce new sinister endings to the game, revamped split-screen functionality, enhancements for the challenging “Valor” difficulty setting, and more. The team also pledged to enhance the overall performance of this epic role-playing experience.
One of the most significant features of this update is the official mod support. Vincke acknowledged the complexity of making user-generated content cross-platform, emphasizing the challenges involved. Initially, this support will be available on PC, with plans to extend it to consoles in the future.
It’s worth noting that this seventh patch will mark the final major update for Baldur’s Gate III. The extensive nature of this update prompted Larian to seek assistance from the game’s dedicated fan base. An “alpha” phase for modders was followed by closed beta testing in July.
