Get ready for some exciting news in the world of Mortal Kombat! Ermac is set to make his debut in Mortal Kombat 1 on April 16th through early access, followed by Mavado in May. Mavado, a character not playable since MK: Tournament Edition in 2003, is a key figure in the Red Dragon criminal organization, rivaling the infamous Black Dragon led by Kano.
Unlike his supernatural counterparts, Mavado relies on his skill with whips and steel hooks to maintain his dominance. On the other hand, Ermac, known for his telekinetic abilities, showcases his soul-summoning powers in the trailer. His fatality move involves a gruesome display of ripping off his enemies’ legs and feet to crush them into oblivion.
First introduced in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Ermac is a unique character made up of multiple souls capable of traversing realms. In different timelines, he served as Shao Kahn’s enforcer, while in the new timeline, he was created by Quan Chi using a soul stealer to harness the power of countless souls.
Although Ermac played a crucial role in the story mode, allowing communication with the deceased king Jerrod of Edenia, he is now available as DLC for players to enjoy, much like Quan Chi was post-launch.
