Eminem Urges Republican Ramaswamy to Cease Using His Music in Campaign

United States rapper Eminem has requested Republican⁢ presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, a former biotech executive with a⁢ multimillionaire status, to refrain from using his ‍music during his campaign.

Ramaswamy has been experiencing a surge in the Republican primary race, and a‍ video of ⁢him rapping‍ along to Eminem’s Lose Yourself at the ‌Iowa State Fair became viral this month.

In a letter disclosed on ‌Monday​ and dated August 23, BMI, a performing rights organization, informed⁤ Ramaswamy’s⁤ campaign, at⁤ the request of the Grammy-winning rapper, that it will no longer grant a license ⁤for ⁣the use of Eminem’s music by⁢ Ramaswamy’s campaign.

“BMI has received a communication from Marshall B. ⁢Mathers, III, ⁣professionally known as Eminem, objecting to ⁣the Vivek Ramaswamy campaign’s ⁢use of Eminem’s musical composition (the “Eminem Works”) and requesting that BMI remove‍ all Eminem‌ Works ⁢from the Agreement,” BMI⁣ stated in the letter, which ⁣was first reported by ⁣the Daily Mail newspaper.

Ramaswamy’s campaign informed CNN that it⁤ will comply with ​the request. The 38-year-old businessman, with no prior political experience, has been gaining popularity in ⁢some ‍opinion polls and has criticized his rivals ‌as being “bought and paid for.”

Last week, the ‌tech entrepreneur ‌was at the center of many of the most dramatic moments of the first Republican primary debate.
