Destiny 2: Big Changes Ahead With Lightfall and Beyond

Destiny 2 is going to get a whole lot better. Bungie announced a slew of changes coming to the loot shooter over the next few expansions and seasons. The studio plans to make content more difficult starting with the launch of Lightfall later this month, while the existing power grind seems like it could get ditched entirely by the time the next expansion, The Final Shape, arrives sometime in 2024.

Game director Joe Blackburn laid this and more out in a sprawling 5,000 word blog post. It previewed both upcoming changes meant to simplify many of Destiny 2’s tedious and unwieldy systems as well as an aspirational philosophy for the sci-fi MMO moving forward. Bungie has lofty goals of reigniting players’ imaginations and making Destiny more social, and wants to combat some of the recent player feelings of burnout by making the game more streamlined and less predictable. And also more difficult.

Starting with Lightfall, ability cooldowns will take longer and enemies will hit harder….

The highly successful game Destiny 2 is set to undergo some major changes soon – and they could shape the future of the game for years to come. The developers, Bungie, have announced their plans for the upcoming season called ‘Lightfall’, which will include an overhaul of the class system and changes to the economy system. Along with these changes, Bungie have also promised a new expansion called ‘Beyond Light’, which is set to shake up the the universe with the introduction of powerful new weapons and a reworking of the character progression system.

The biggest change coming with Lightfall will be a revised class system. Bungie has decided to make the character classes open to all players, meaning everyone will be able to choose from all three classes and switch them freely. This allows for much more freedom in terms of class choices, and also opens up more opportunities for team strategies. Every class can now become any subclass, so players can team up with any combination to achieve the best results.

The game’s economy is also being reworked to allow for more trade options between players. This will allow players to be more autonomous in their search for rare and powerful items, while also giving them the opportunity to sell them in exchange for powerful gear from other players. This new economy should also play a part in encouraging players to explore the game world, since it should increase the reward for discovering rare items.

Finally, Bungie has also announced the release of the expansion Beyond Light. This will include the big reveal of a powerful new weapon, and a complete reworking of the character progression system. Players will now be able to level up their characters much faster, as well as earn powerful new gear and items from the new content.

To sum up, the upcoming changes to Destiny 2 look set to provide a huge boost to the game. They add a new level of flexibility and freedom to the character class system, while also introducing an overhauled economy system and a brand new expansion. All of this looks set to reinvigorate the game and provide a new sense of purpose for players. It’s clear that the developers are taking the game to a whole new level, and it should be exciting to see what they have in store.
