Stellar Jade is a limited resource, thus, choosing between Kafka and Blade in Honkai: Star Rail 1.2 may be a necessary action for players with limited resources. Both characters are new 5-star heroes who were not present in the game’s playable roster, but had been featured in the main story missions as NPCs – Kafka was somewhat playable during the early stages of the title, as she is the first character that players control in the tutorial section. Blade, on the other hand, was introduced later on as a threat on the Xianzhou Luofu, though he only is playable through a trial section in Version 1.2’s storyline.
With both Blade and Kafka being exciting new additions, players may have to choose to use their Star Rail Special Passes on either one of them, as beating the pity and drop rates in Honkai: Star Rail to obtain both characters may be tough. Honkai: Star Rail’s Kafka and Blade are both top-tier characters that can exponentially increase a team comp’s performance on the battlefield, so knowing which one to pull is of the essence to not waste Stellar Jade and a chance of making one’s party much stronger for various activities.
Pulling for Kafka or Blade in Honkai: Star Rail may be a tough decision to call because both characters operate as a main DPS in a team comp. This means their job is to be the main source of damage against opponents in battles, buffed by supports and maintained alive and protected by healers or shielders. Blade uses Wind and follows the Path of Destruction, while Kafka uses Lightning and follows the Path of Nihility. Despite being main DPS, these two Stellaron Hunters work very differently when it comes to how they apply damage, and this is one of the main factors to consider when choosing who to pull for.
As was aforementioned, Blade uses Wind as his main element and follows the Path of the Destruction. His focus is dealing damage with most of his attacks – his Skill buffs his regular attacks, which are his primary source of damage output. This makes Honkai: Star Rail’s Blade a great character for conserving Skill Points. If he is constantly using Enhanced Basic Attacks to deal damage, he is not consuming Skill Points, thus leaving them for the healers and supports to either buff or help him regenerate. This is extremely necessary, as one of the downsides is that Blade sacrifices HP to enhance his attack power.
Blade’s entire gameplay kit in Honkai: Star Rail focuses on his own HP loss to increase damage and, gradually, regenerate it, so he can lose it again. This can be viewed as a downside, as it puts his life at risk on many occasions, especially against stronger opponents who can one-shot him with certain moves. Using him will require players to either have a reliable healer to get his HP back or a shielder to prevent him from taking enemy damage altogether. His HP loss can, on the other hand, be seen as a positive aspect, as the risky gameplay does prove fruitful in the long run.
