The Black Ops 3 Version of a Classic Call of Duty Zombies Map Contains a Peculiar Flaw

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 enthusiasts have taken to the internet to discuss a peculiar flaw with a classic Zombies map found in Treyarch’s hit 2015 FPS. This discussion highlights the game’s immense staying power, which was last demonstrated by the discovery of a new way to destroy Acension’s Rocket in Black Ops 3 Zombies mode over seven years after its release.

Black Ops 3 managed to defy expectations imposed upon every annual Call of Duty release due to the series’ tendency to put out games that fall out of favor not long after their immediate successors are introduced. Contrary to that historical trend, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is still widely played today, largely due to its hit Zombies mode.

With great popularity comes great scrutiny, as evidenced by the newly emerged fan discussion about a weird flaw found in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 version of the Kino der Toten Zombies map. The debate was sparked by Reddit user LiteralTP, who bemoaned Treyarch’s decision to replace an early MP5K wall buy from the original 2010 Black Ops map with an RK5. Although Black Ops 3 doesn’t feature the MP5K at all, the fact that the RK5 pistol is already available in the nearby spawn room makes this placement redundant at best and useless at worst, according to some players. Many of those who echoed that criticism suggested the Kuda would’ve been a better fit for this location, seeing how it’s the functionally closest relative to the MP5K found in Black Ops 3.

Yet not everyone agreed with that sentiment, with some fans arguing that having a fully automatic submachine gun so early would have made Kino der Toten too easy, positing that was already the case in the original version of the map. Some like-minded individuals also claimed that a secondary RK5 wall buy was mostly intended as an ammo refill location that helps in the first few rounds without providing players with an overpowered weapon so early on. While the debate hasn’t resulted in a clear consensus, its very existence underlines the widespread belief that Black Ops 3 offers the best Call of Duty Zombies mode experience in the entire franchise, seeing how it’s still being played and discussed today.
