The Ukrainian air force reported that 14 out of 17 drones and a Kh-59 cruise missile launched by Russia were destroyed. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured defense companies that his government would increase military spending to meet its commitment to spend 2% of GDP on Nato defense. This comes after former US President Donald Trump’s controversial remarks about protecting Nato members. Ukraine’s air defense systems also intercepted missiles from Russia’s S-300 long-range surface-to-air missile systems. In addition, Russian forces in occupied Ukraine are reportedly using Starlink terminals produced by Elon Musk’s SpaceX for satellite internet, despite claims that Starlink does not do business with Russia’s government or military. Russia has imposed sanctions on 18 British citizens for allegedly demonizing Russia and escalating the war in Ukraine.
