Boeing’s Starliner successfully connected with the International Space Station (ISS) after encountering some unexpected issues. The initial attempt was delayed due to malfunctioning thrusters, but the spacecraft finally docked at 1:34 PM ET. Astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita “Suni” Williams are now set to spend the next eight days aboard the ISS before heading back to Earth.
The docking took place in orbit approximately 260 miles above the Indian Ocean, with the duo now orbiting the planet at a speed of around 17,500 mph.
“It’s a great feeling to be linked up with the magnificent city in the sky,” Wilmore communicated to mission control in Houston following the successful docking. The capsule is carrying 760 pounds of cargo, including 300 pounds of food and supplies requested by the seven crew members onboard.
