However, many young voters who are concerned about climate change are still upset with Mr. Biden’s decision to approve the $8 billion Willow oil drilling project on pristine federal land in Alaska. As the president gears up for his re-election campaign, it remains unclear whether these voters, who supported him in 2020 because of his commitment to climate action, will continue to support him.
Alex Haraus, a 25-year-old, expressed his disappointment with the Willow decision, stating that he and other young people felt betrayed after Mr. Biden had promised during his campaign to put an end to new oil drilling on public lands. Mr. Haraus gained millions of views on TikTok for his videos opposing the Willow project.
