Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have raised concerns about Russia’s interference with GPS signals in the Baltic Sea. The foreign ministers of these Baltic countries highlighted the issue in a discussion with the Financial Times.
Comparing the situation to driving at night with your headlights suddenly turned off, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, emphasized the growing danger in the Baltic region near Russian borders.
Estonian Foreign Minister, Urmas Reinsalu, described the jamming of GPS signals as a ”hybrid attack by Russia” that cannot be overlooked. He emphasized the need to address this issue with allies.
A senior official suggested to FT that Russia may be disrupting GPS signals to protect Kaliningrad from potential drone attacks. OSINT researcher Markus Jonsson, known on Twitter, previously identified Kaliningrad as the location of the GPS jammer.
