Assassin’s Creed Jade has been pushed back to a 2025 release date. The mobile spin-off, set in China, was initially revealed at the Ubisoft Forward showcase in 2022 and has been in development for over four years. Despite closed beta tests in 2023, the game was expected to launch in 2024.
However, Tencent, the world’s largest video game company, has redirected resources, delaying the release. The company shifted focus to their new party game, DreamStar, leading to the reassignment of hundreds of developers from the Assassin’s Creed Jade team. DreamStar, a game featuring cartoon characters racing through obstacle courses, was launched in December 2023 as a response to the success of NetEase’s Eggy Party in China.
Tencent’s decision to prioritize DreamStar over Assassin’s Creed Jade highlights the shift towards easy-to-play games with cute characters. This move comes as a disappointment to fans eagerly awaiting a new Assassin’s Creed experience in 2024. However, Ubisoft has confirmed the release of Assassin’s Creed Red, set in Feudal Japan, in the 2025 fiscal year.
Despite the delay of Assassin’s Creed Jade, fans can look forward to the highly anticipated release of Assassin’s Creed Red in the near future.
