For those who use Windows for work and an iPhone for everything else, Apple has made significant changes to iCloud for Windows and has discontinued iTunes for the platform. However, all media purchases remain accessible.
So, what’s new with iCloud for Windows? Apple has given the application a modern look, making it easier to navigate with quick access to Photos, iCloud Drive, Passwords, Bookmarks, and Calendars/Contacts. It also provides insights into storage usage and file syncing.
Users can now monitor the sync status of photos, contacts, and work-related documents stored in iCloud Drive. Additionally, there are faster photo syncing speeds and improved syncing with Microsoft Outlook.
New enhancements include support for physical security keys, dark mode, and the ability to track all devices signed into iCloud. The improvements include a new user interface, better insight into sync, improved onboarding system, and better Outlook support on Windows 11 or later.
Windows now supports FIDO for Apple ID protection, allowing users to use physical security keys to protect their Apple ID. This provides additional security, especially against targeted attacks.
Apple has replaced iTunes on Macs with standalone Music and TV apps and has now introduced standalone Music and TV apps for Windows users, aligning with that decision.
