It has been almost 10 months since AMD introduced FSR 3. Back then, AMD promised gamers to expect a twofold increase in performance compared to FSR 2, and later we learned that the company plans to use frame interpolation, similar to NVIDIA DLSS 3 technology, as a means to achieve such a significant performance leap.
But time passed, and so far we haven’t heard anything specific about FSR 3 from AMD. During the Gaming Festival 2023 event at Gamescom, the company announced that this technology will appear in Forspoken and Immortals of Aveum as the first games to support FSR 3, and now there is only one day left until the debut of FSR 3 in the first two games, which was confirmed by Frank Azor from AMD.
But that’s only the beginning. AMD also confirmed support for FSR 3 in 10 other games, which will receive the technology in the future:
- Avatar Frontiers of Pandora
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Warhammer 40K: Space Marine II
- Frostpunk 2
- ADERS
- SQUAD
- Starship Troopers Extermination
- Black Myth WUKONG
- Crimson Desert
- Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth
Earlier, AMD demonstrated that Forspoken gets a boost of around 30 frames per second at the native 4K resolution (ultra-high RT) to over 120+ frames per second when using the same settings and FSR 3 set to “Performance” mode.
AMD also confirmed that FSR 3 will be available as a plugin for Unreal Engine 5, which will further increase its adoption among the gaming community. The best thing about FSR 3 is that it will be compatible with all graphics processors, including AMD’s own processors, as well as processors from other manufacturers (including NVIDIA and Intel). The technology will also be compatible with consoles.
