Gaza is facing the threat of starvation and disease due to a lack of fuel and a communications blackout, according to humanitarian agencies.
Aid deliveries to the enclave have been suspended once again as Israel continues to restrict fuel supplies. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) stated on Friday that civilians are at immediate risk of starvation. The World Health Organization also warned that disease is spreading rapidly.
The suspension of humanitarian supplies is worsening the suffering of hungry and homeless Palestinians as Israel’s war persists.
Although Israel has allowed some aid to enter Gaza through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt, very little fuel has been permitted. Aid agencies argue that this is hindering the distribution of supplies. Palestinian telecommunications companies Jawwal and Paltel reported on Thursday that their networks went offline after running out of fuel. Gaza has experienced multiple communications blackouts during the Israeli assault.
Aid agencies emphasize that the delivery of all aid and medical care is critically dependent on fuel supplies.
